Indian Council of Historical Research - The Story of India's Partition

Remembrance inside a celebration

The brief arrived in India's 75th year of independence - Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav - a year of celebration that ICHR chose to temper with remembrance. Because to understand what independence means, you must first understand what was lost to achieve it.

The Partition of 1947 was the largest forced migration in recorded human history. MOLOG was asked to give this story a stage across the entire country.

Designed to travel

MOLOG designed an exhibition that could be assembled without specialist equipment, dismantled without effort and transported without complexity - so nothing would stand between these stories and the audiences who need to hear them.

From metro cities to district towns, the exhibition travels as far as the memory itself demands.

Restraint as a design decision

Every visual decision was made with the gravity of the subject in mind. The colour palette - muted, sorrowful, deliberately restrained - creates a silence around the stories that makes them louder.
